Meet and Greet with 100 Sabah UMPSA Alumni

KOTA KINABALU, 16 September 2023 - The Centre for Alumni Relations, Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) recently hosted a Greet & Meet Ceremony with Sabah Alumni at The Pacific Sutera Hotel, Kota Kinabalu.

The first event held this year was attended by 100 alumni.

The meeting can basically relive the memories of alumni while studying at the university as well as establish close collaboration between alumni and UMPSA, especially in executing activities and programmes for mutual benefit.

The ceremony was also enlivened by the presence of the UMPSA Board of Director (Alumni Representative), Madyasir Ahmad Basir with the Board of Trustees of Yayasan UMP, Ts. Dato’ Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim and Farrah Ain Madzlan.

Also present was the Director of the Centre for Alumni Relations, Ts. Dr. Azri Alias.

According to Madyasir, the relationship and collaboration with these alumni are important in fostering and helping the alma mater to be more successful in the future.

“We believe that the experience and expertise of the alumni will increase the success of the university in producing high-impact programmes and open up more exploration opportunities to other needed areas from time to time,” he said.

In conjunction with the meeting, the Centre for Alumni Relations also held the Alumni Turun Padang programme held at Sekolah Menengah Sains Sabah (SMESH), Tuaran involving 20 UMPSA alumni.

Ts. Dr. Azri said this programme was the university’s initiative to strengthen strategic collaboration with alumni in joint involvement to implement the planned activities and programmes.

“In this programme, alumni have the opportunity to share their experiences when they were students at UMPSA.

“In addition, this partnership can provide an initial overview to a total of 236 Form 4 and 5 SMESH students to prepare for further study at the university to determine their career path.

“This effort is part of UMPSA’s branding activities to spread its new name while promoting academic programmes offered by the university,” he said.

To date, UMPSA has a total of 38,747 local alumni and 946 international alumni.

UMPSA also always welcomes the involvement of alumni to contribute to the university regardless of any form of contribution or service that can mutually benefit.
