UMPSA recognizes 109 lecturers in the Cendekia Bitara Awards Ceremony

KUANTAN, 15 September 2023 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) has proven its pride in having world-class researchers as it awards 109 individuals, comprising 101 Cendekia Bitara Awards (Anugerah Cendekia Bitara - ACB), six University e-Learning Awards (APU), and two University Academic Awards (AAU). These awards are dedicated to its academic community members who have shown excellence and expertise in the field of teaching and learning.

The ACB encompasses awards for Journal Publications (49), Book Publications (55), Policy Papers (4), International Grants (2), Industry Grants (59), Agency Grants (1), Commercially Viable Intellectual Property (1), Consultations (2), Research Projects (2), and Research Quality (1).

Meanwhile, the AAU includes the Teaching Award (Engineering Category) and the Promising Academician Award.

On the other hand, the APU category witnessed awards for the Best Micro-Credentials (5) and e-Learning (1).

The awards ceremony was inaugurated by Dato' Mohamad Nizar Dato' Sri Mohamad Najib, the Pahang State Executive Councillor for Investment, Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, during the Cendekia Bitara Awards (ACB) event held at the Grand Darul Makmur Hotel recently.

Also present were the Chairman of the University Board of Directors, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, UMPSA's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli, who also served as the Chairman of the Cendekia Bitara Awards Committee 2022.

According to Dato' Mohamad Nizar, the Pahang State Government continually supports UMPSA's efforts to achieve research and innovation aspirations through various incentives and financial assistance, covering the innovation value chain from planning to commercialization.

"UMPSA and the Pahang State Government are currently intensifying collaboration in the areas of food security, mineral resources, and STEM education," he said.

He also expressed appreciation and congratulations to the university for organizing the Cendekia Bitara Awards – Prowess Craftsmanship as a platform that recognizes researchers who have contributed to the excellence of the university and, in turn, to Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie stated that the collaboration between the state government and UMPSA would continue to be strengthened and reinforced.

"As a leading technological university in Malaysia as a whole and in Pahang in particular, UMPSA is ready to share and contribute the expertise of its staff and researchers according to the state government's focus areas.

"Moreover, this synergy goes beyond talent, human resources, and finance, as it also involves knowledge transfer, research, knowledge sharing, and the enhancement of best practices," he said.

Furthermore, based on its existing expertise, UMPSA continually strives to be the first point of reference in solving any innovation and technology-related problems, aligning with the slogan "Engineering, Technology, Creativity – Together Achieving Excellence" at UMPSA.
