10 UMP staff bound for Hajj celebrated

PEKAN, 1 June 2022 - The joy was inexpressible for Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) staff present at a ceremony organised by the Registry Department recently when they were chosen to set foot in the Holy Land of Mecca to perform hajj after being delayed for the past two years.

The ceremony was attended by the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, accompanied by the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA), Professor Dr. Mahadzhir Ishak@Muhammad and Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (FTKEE), Associate Professor Dr. Hamdan Daniyal.

In his speech, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie congratulated the elected staff for hajj this year.

He advised the pilgrims to comply with all health advice and guidelines and diet practices recommended by Tabung Haji and the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) so that their health is always in good condition.

In addition, he advised them to be patient, tolerant and caring regardless of skin colour, customs and culture.
At the same time, he also shared his experience during the hajj and umrah.

“In preparation, the congregations also need to read a lot about the history of Mecca and Medina in order to perform worship with more appreciation.

“The university also wishes all the pilgrims to be given strength, body health throughout the hajj and to be able to perform it perfectly,” he said during the ceremony in the Senate Hall, UMP Pekan.

This group consists of three married couples: Dr. Azri Alias and his wife Norshalawati Mat Yusof, Mohd Zahir Salim and wife Ts. Dr. Rohana Abdul Karim, and Amir Azhar Baharudin and his wife Che Noorrainisal Che Noddin.

In addition, university lecturer from the Faculty of Industrial Management (FPI), Wan Khairul Anuar Wan Abd Manan, Dr. Rozlina Mohamed, a lecturer at the Faculty of Computing (FK) and Norshuhada Muhd Nordin, an Information Technology Officer, Department of Knowledge Management and Information Technology.

Also, the youngest UMP pilgrim is Atirah Ruzaini, 30, Publication Officer at UMP Press.
