UMP celebrates the achievements of postgraduates

KUANTAN, 12 January 2023 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) celebrated the achievements of its graduates for the year 2022 in the Postgraduate Alumni Friendly Ceremony organized by the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS).

The ceremony was officiated by the Dean of the Institute of Graduate Studies (IPS), Professor Datin Dr. Mimi Sakinah Abdul Munaim in a program that took place at the Grand Darul Makmur Hotel, Kuantan.

According to Professor Datin Mimi Sakinah, she is proud of UMP's achievements in graduate studies involving a total of 251 people throughout the year 2022.

"This number includes 66 Doctor of Philosophy graduates, 107 Master of Science (Research), 73 Coursework Masters, and five Mixed Mode Masters.

"Even though this amount is small, it still needs to be shared, considering that 2022 was a challenging year after Malaysia emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Thus, I hope this meeting with the UMP Postgraduate Alumni is to ensure that the relationship and cooperation between UMP and the alumni is not broken when a student has graduated," she said.

She added, apart from that, this good relationship needs to be continued so that it can generate benefits that can be implemented between UMP and the alumni.

"UMP alumni throughout Malaysia and abroad are little ambassadors and represent UMP to the community abroad.”

"Therefore, I hope that UMP alumni will continue to contribute and serve UMP in any field and form of contribution that can help advance and further boost UMP’s brand to the national and international scene.”

"Many thanks also to the faculties and academic centres for their assistance, commitment, and continuous efforts to drive graduate academic excellence at UMP," she said.

There was also a Ranking Briefing delivered by the Deputy Director (Ranking) of the Centre for Corporate Affairs and Quality, Associate Professor. Ts. Dr. Hermadina Setiabudi.

She also advised alumni to be able to participate in ranking activities that can contribute to the university's excellence.

Also sharing information in the event was Master of Science graduate Juliza Mohamad Arif who is currently serving as a Higher Education Officer at Paya Besar Community College, and Doctor of Philosophy graduate Dr. Kamarulzaman Mahmad Khairai who is currently serving as an Assistant Manager, Industrial Engineering at TT Electronics, Kuantan.

Both of them had the opportunity to share their experience during their studies from the beginning to successfully graduating with a postgraduate degree at UMP.
