UMP ranked 301-400 in THE Impact Rankings

PEKAN, 28 April 2022 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) is ranked 301st-400th and 8th in Malaysia in the global impact rating Time Higher Education (THE Global Impact Ranking) announced on 27 April 2022.

In contrast to other world ratings, THE Impact Rankings focuses on 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to inculcate harmony and prosperity in nature as well as global society.

According to the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, it was UMP’s first participation.

“In this edition, UMP participated in five goals, namely SDGs 4, 6, 7, 9 and 17 and UMP is listed in all the SDGs.

“UMP is ranked 301st-400th for SDG4 Quality Education and for SDG6 Clean Water and Sanitation, UMP is ranked 101st-200th.

“UMP also excels in SDG7 Affordable and Clean Energy when it is ranked 67th, and this demonstrates UMP’s role in energy efficiency, renewable energy and its role in the community,” he said.

He added that for SDG9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, UMP is ranked 401st-600th.

“For SDG17 Partnership for the Goals, UMP is ranked 101st-200th, demonstrating the university’s good relationship with various parties and levels, including the community and industry.

“It also involves the acculturation of sustainability among the university associates,” he said. 

The Chairman of the Board of UMP, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, also expressed his gratitude and pride in this achievement.

“This is a recognition for UMP, which has always focused on sustainability efforts as the main agenda in improving the quality of life of the global community in the country,” he said. 

The main goal of The Impact Rankings is to identify the impact of universities on society based on the success of an institution in delivering the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations (UN). 

The UN has outlined these 17 SDGs to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all by 2030.
