UMPSA Contingent Adds Festivity to Independence Day Parade and Procession
KUANTAN, 31 August 2023 - Two contingents from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) participated in the Parade and Procession of the 66th Independence Day Celebration at the State Level for Pahang in 2023, held simultaneously in the districts of Kuantan and Pekan.
A total of 50 members of the UMPSA community, including students and staff, took part in the procession in Kuantan, which was held at MBK 4 Field.
Under the gracious presence of His Royal Highness the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Mahkota Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, the State-level National Day Celebration was made even more vibrant.
Witnessing the event were UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Ts. Dr. Yusserrie Zainuddin, while for the Pekan district, it was attended by UMPSA Registrar, Dato' Saiful Bahri Ahmad Bakarim.
According to Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, UMPSA's participation in the procession is meaningful as it brings the university closer to the local community.
"This year's National Day theme, 'Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan' (Civilized Malaysia: Unity in Fulfilling Aspirations), brings unity, freedom, peace, and prosperity to UMPSA members to create more success and achieve a brighter future for today's and future generations.
"The procession also involved three university vehicles: the Hyundai Kona Electric Vehicle, an electric van, and the UMPSA OKU Van," he said.
Leading the parade was Mazlan Mohamad from the Property Development and Management Centre (PPPH).
Meanwhile, for the Pekan district, the parade contingent consisted of 30 UMPSA members led by Irwan Shah Rizal Amir Hamzah from the Student Affairs and Alumni Department.
The atmosphere of festivity for the nation's birthday was felt as over 100 contingent participants, including walking and vehicular contingents representing various state and federal departments, statutory bodies, educational institutions, and NGOs, took part in the morning procession.
Throughout National Month, various activities have been planned, including the Presentation of the Jalur Gemilang in conjunction with the 66th National Day in 2023, the Office Decoration Competition, TikTok Merdeka, Merdeka Blood Donation, Merdeka Talk: 'The Importance of Leadership by Scholars and Umarak,' and many more.
