UMP students excited to celebrate Eid

PAYA BESAR, 23 May 2022 - After two years of not celebrating the festivities of Aidilfitri, the arrival of the month of Syawal this time was awaited with excitement among students.

Since early morning Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) students have started coming so as not to miss the opportunity to celebrate Eid and enjoy the feast Majlis Ukhuwah Aidilfitri and Jasamu Dikenang organised by the Student Affairs and Alumni Department (SAffAD) which took place at the Astaka Hall, UMP Gambang Campus.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Rusllim Mohamed and Member of University Board of Directors (Alumni Representative), Madyasir Ahmad Basir.

According to Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, in the 12 years since 2012, his appointment as the Dean of JHEPA, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of HEPA and subsequently Deputy Vice-Chancellor of HEPA has made him so close to students.

“There are many variables that determine student performance and character building for continuous improvement in the future.

“Students’ needs and facilities, the importance of hostels, security and wellbeing will continue to be developed for students’ comfort,” he said.

He expected SAffAD to continue playing its role, given that students spend 70 per cent of their time in hostels and lecture halls.

Meanwhile, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Rusllim said that they intended to increase student activities and development as well as reevaluate the facilities at Student Residence (RP) to ensure the wellbeing of campus residents.

They would ensure that the welfare and wellbeing of students are always a priority and empower boarding institutions and student residencies.

Majlis Jasa Dikenang also took place to appreciate Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie who is now UMP’s fifth Vice-Chancellor.

Also celebrated were the SAffAD staff who changed departments.

The Eid festival was celebrated with various delicacies to be enjoyed by students and there was also an exhibition of activities by Ikatan Siswa Anak Darul Ta’azim (ISKANDAR) and Sekretariat Majlis Mahasiswa Anak-anak Pahang (Semampan).
