UMPSA celebrates 22 years of collaboration networking with media and partners at Iftar Ceremony

KUANTAN, 2 April 2024 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) celebrated nearly 100 media representatives and partners at the Iftar Ceremony in conjunction with 22 years of close collaboration.

The UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin hoped that the relationship between UMPSA and media partners and collaboration partners that has been established for 22 years would be continued in channelling news and sharing information from time to time for the benefit of the community, especially in improving the level of higher education of the people in the country.

“Organising this programme is an initiative of UMPSA through the Centre for Corporate Communications (PKK) to celebrate and recognise the collaboration and contribution of the media which has helped a lot in spreading publicity coverage about the university.

“This event is also a thank you to the media who have always given strong and tireless support, especially in spreading the success of the university and improving the image of UMPSA,” he said.

He said this in his speech in conjunction with the UMPSA Iftar Ceremony with the Media and Collaboration Partners ‘Indahnya Ramadan Al-Mubarak’ at the Grand Darul Makmur Hotel, Kuantan.

He added that UMPSA always strives to improve the quality of education in order to provide the best for students.

“UMPSA is the only public university (UA) in Malaysia to receive the United Kingdom Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) International Certification accreditation as one of the hybrid and electric vehicle training centres.

“Trainees who get professional certificates from IMI are eligible to work abroad that recognise certificates from IMI.

“This achievement allows more skilled and globally recognised technical trainees to be produced, especially in the field of maintenance of electric vehicles produced by manufacturers from all over the world,” he said when sharing the latest developments at the university.

According to him, the internationalisation agenda is also the main focus of the university to realise the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2015-2025 (Higher Education) in line with the 2021-2025 UMPSA Strategic Plan.

“This can be proven when the UMPSA dual degree programmes in collaboration with universities in Germany for the past 14 years with Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) in the fields of mechatronic, automotive and electrical engineering have succeeded in producing many competent graduates who contribute to the development of the country.

“This includes the Business Engineering Programme with a new partner from Mannheim University of Applied Sciences (HMA) which will start recruiting students this year.

“In addition, UMPSA has collaborated with an educational institution in China, namely Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) for dual degree programmes involving nine semesters of study: two years of study at UMPSA and the remaining two and a half years at BJTU in civil, mechanical and electrical engineering,” he said.

He added that in an effort to support the development of rail transportation industry talent in Malaysia, UMPSA has received great support from the Ministry of Higher Education as well as sponsoring bodies such as the Public Service Department (PSD) and Majlis Amanh Rakyat (MARA).

“In the first series, 20 UMPSA students and staff participated in the Malaysia-China Advanced TVET Mobility 2024 Programme (MyCHAT’24) which gave participants the opportunity to undergo upskilling training at Beijing Polytechnic for ten days starting 11 March to 20 March 2024 in the field of artificial intelligence including electric vehicles, heritage railway technology, e-commerce, advanced manufacturing automation (robotics), good manufacturing practices (GMP), data science, analytics and health sciences and Chinese cultural & heritage.

“The Bachelor of Business Analytics with Honours programme at the Faculty of Industrial Management has been accredited by the Institute of Analytics (IoA), United Kingdom.

“IoA is a globally renowned professional body for analytics and data science,” he said.

This Bachelor of Business Analytics with Honours programme is the first programme of its kind in Malaysia to be accredited by IoA.
