UMP expands international collaboration network with German Konstanz University of Applied Sciences

PAYA BESAR, 15 December 2021 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Konstanz University of Applied Sciences (HTWG-Konstanz) Germany in expanding the network of international collaboration and further strengthening the relationship between the two universities.

The online ceremony saw Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, who performs the functions of the Vice-Chancellor of UMP, signed the MoU while HTWG-Konstanz was represented by its President, Professor Dr. Sabine Rein.

Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd. Mohd Rosli Hainin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli, Director of DAAD Malaysia Kuala Lumpur and Board of Directors of UMP’s German Studies Programme and Vice President of HTWG-Konstanz, Professor Dr. Katrin Klodt-Bußmann.

According to Professor Dato’ Ts. Yuserrie, this MoU is an important milestone for UMP especially to the Faculty of Industrial Management (FPI), the German Academic Collaboration Centre and Centre for International Relations to continue establishing strategic collaboration in academics and research.

“It is also one of the proofs of the joint venture between UMP and DAAD Malaysia which has always supported strategic collaboration based on the trust of the German Institutions over the past decade.

“This collaboration can strengthen bilateral relations and both universities can benefit in various fields, especially engineering, research, information technology and business.

“Besides that, in line with the UMP Strategic Plan 2021-2025, the university also places special emphasis on having more international collaboration with potential universities and industries,” he said.

These collaborations include intensifying academic and educational activities such as student and staff exchanges, developing new programmes such as dual degrees and creating opportunities for training, research and participation in lectures or symposia.

The initiative will also focus on computer science, information technology, engineering, language and culture, business and management study programmes and various related fields.

HTWG-Konstanz is a university located in Konstanz, Baden-Wuttemberg, Germany that offers various programmes including engineering, computing and business.
