UMPSA establishes collaboration with 11 industry partners

PEKAN, 15 September 2023 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) held a ceremony for the exchange of Memoranda of Agreement (MoA) and Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with 11 industry partners as part of their efforts to develop the organization, particularly in matters related to academics, research, and development.

The ceremony took place at the Banquet Hall, Tun Abdul Razak Chancellery, UMPSA Pekan.

The collaborative partners include the Ministry of Education Malaysia, BUCIDA Engineering & Consultancy Sdn. Bhd., Serimax Welding Services Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., UIE Solutions (M) Sdn. Bhd., Stare Resources Sdn. Bhd., Hyperwave Systems Engineering Sdn. Bhd., UMP Advanced, Myspatial Sdn. Bhd., TT Electronics, Najeehah International Sdn. Bhd., and The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

UMPSA's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, mentioned that the collaboration between UMPSA and these institutional and industrial partners focuses on Work-Based Learning (WBL), Research, and Professional Certification.

"WBL is one of the learning methods aimed at enabling students to master learning content through work-related activities.

"UMPSA, as one of the technical universities in Malaysia, also known as MTUN, has been offering Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programmes since 2019.

"BTech programmes are designed to provide higher education pathways for students from TVET institutions such as vocational colleges and skills training institutes," he stated.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the key elements of BTech education include hands-on experience, Problem-Oriented Project-Based Learning (POPBL), and most importantly, WBL.

Representatives from the industry who attended included Dr. Rosli Yacob, Rector of the Malaysia Institute of Teacher Education; Fadeli Abdullah, Managing Director of BUCIDA Engineering & Consultancy Sdn. Bhd.; Izzad Ishak, Site Manager of Serimax Welding Services Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.; and Mohd Nizam Yaacob, Technical Director of UIE Solutions (M) Sdn. Bhd.

Others in attendance were Captain (R) Ir. Mohamad Fariz Mohamed Nasir, CEO of Stare Resources Sdn. Bhd.; Mohd Shaharel Mohd Mokhtar, Project Director of Hyperwave Systems Engineering Sdn. Bhd.; Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Hamzah Ahmad, Director of UMP Advanced Education Sdn. Bhd.; Rosliza Yaziz, CEO of Najeehah International Sdn. Bhd.; Wan Mohd Rozaimi Wan Mustafa, Operations Director of Myspatial Sdn. Bhd.; Mohd Podzi Haji Mahmud, Country Manager of TT Electronics; and Rushdan Rozlan, Country Manager of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

Also present were Professor Datin Dr. Mimi Sakinah Abdul Munain, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Industrial and Community Network, and Dato’ Saiful Bahri Ahmad Bakarim, Registrar/Chief Operating Officer.
