UMP collaborates with Libyan Embassy and Premium Language Centre

KUALA LUMPUR, 17 March 2023 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Academic Affairs Office of the Embassy of Libya and the Premium Language Centre (PLC) in support of academia, research and internationalisation.

The ceremony saw the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin sign an MoU with the Academic Attache Academic Office of the Embassy of Libya-Malaysia, Dr. Aiman Elmahmodi and the President of Premium Language Centre, Norhawaty Mansor at the ceremony which took place at Hotel Seri Pacific, Kuala Lumpur.

Also present were Libya’s Ambassador to Malaysia, TYT Mohamed A.M. Attia, Dean of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Datin Ts. Dr. Mimi Sakinah Abdul Munaim and Director of International Student Management Services Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), Ramlan Abd. Aziz.

Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed who performs the functions of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli.

According to Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, UMP offers resources and facilities that support the learning, teaching and research environment as well as expertise in various fields.

“To date, UMP has 511 international students including 201 undergraduate students and 310 postgraduate students from 33 countries including 18 from Libya.

“This collaboration will also provide opportunities for more students from Libya to study at UMP.

“UMP is committed to producing graduates who are competent and ready for global competitiveness, especially in engineering and technology,” he said.

In addition, the Financial Incentives and Scholarships offered by the Libyan Government will enable students to pursue studies and contribute to Libya’s future development.

Collaboration between Malaysia and Libya will explore more opportunities in higher education such as research, exchange of expertise and students, mobility programmes and others in the future.

In the meantime, UMP’s collaboration with PLC to establish a satellite campus will attract more international students to continue their studies at this university.
