UMPSA Foundation opens learning opportunities beyond the classroom for Pintarians students

PEKAN, 27 November 2023 - A total of 120 students from ten schools in the Pekan district, accompanied by ten teachers and facilitated by 30 mentors, participated in a study tour programme to Kuala Lumpur through the 8th Projek Pintar meeting.

The programme, organized by the UMPSA Foundation, received cooperation from the Bank Rakyat Foundation, Pahang Islamic Religious Council and Malay Customs (MUIP), and UMP Advanced.

This programme aims to expose year 6 students to an interactive learning environment focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), with a special emphasis on understanding science and getting acquainted with animals. Interesting places such as Petrosains KLCC and 99 Wonderland Park were the destinations for the school students' visits.

The tour provided each student with an opportunity to broaden their vision through hands-on experiences in practical STEM applications at the visited locations.

The exposure is intended to deepen students' understanding of the relevance of STEM in everyday life, fostering interest in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Experienced facilitators played a crucial role in the programme's effectiveness through interactive sessions that sparked a spirit of knowledge-sharing with Pintarians students.

The two-way dialogue between students and facilitators allowed participants to exchange opinions and gain valuable inspiration for personal development in STEM.

At 99 Wonderland Park, the experience of observing various animal species provided valuable lessons to the participants.

Direct exposure to the diversity of nature strengthened their understanding of species diversity and the importance of environmental sustainability.

According to Muhammad Zunul Zarrieff Abdullah from Sekolah Kebangsaan Indera Shahbandar, one of the participants, the enjoyment and benefits obtained from this programme were evident through the positive reactions seen in the enthusiasm and desire to actively engage in each activity.

"The relaxed approach to learning has sparked a deep interest in me and my friends, especially when learning Science terms that we have never encountered before.

“In fact, getting to know rare animals has made this learning experience more meaningful and enjoyable," he said.

Members of the UMPSA Foundation Board of Trustees, along with the Executive Director of KLCC Urusharta Sdn. Bhd., Dato' Ts. Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim, and the Chief Executive of the UMP Foundation, Mohd Jamil Mohd Ja'afar, were also present at Petronas KLCC to witness the excitement of the Pintarians.

It is hoped that through this programme, all students will gain broader exposure to valuable learning experiences.

Additionally, the programme aims to strengthen the relationship between students and facilitators, creating a more harmonious and mutually supportive atmosphere in the upcoming learning processes.
